Debt Awareness Week

From 24th – 28th March 2025, the charity Step Change shared their Debt Awareness Week campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of debt and offer solutions available to help. As commercial debt recovery experts, Darcey Quigley & Co took this opportunity to share our top 5 pieces of advice for businesses to help their debt recovery efforts.
- Don’t delay in following up on overdue invoices. The quicker you act, the higher your chances of recovering debt.
- Checking a businesses credit limit helps protect your cashflow and avoid payment issues.
- Ensure your credit terms are clearly defined and supported by a formal contract.
- Maintaining professionalism with debtors helps protect your reputation and ensures smoother resolution.

Interest Rates Remain the Same – Spring Statement Released
Wednesday 26th March, saw the release of the UK government’s Spring Statement. This announcement gave Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves an opportunity to update the nation on progress made since the last budget in October 2024.

In March, it was also announced that interest rates would remain the same. They currently sit at 4.5% and due to inflation falling to 2.8%, the interest rate is expected to drop further at the next meeting in May.
